LIP pages: lost in pagination

LIP pages (Lost In Pagination) only receive internal links from pagination pages. Their SEO visibility is near zero.

What is a LIP page?

A LIP page (Lost In Pagination) is a page whose only incoming internal links come from pagination pages (/page/2, /page/3, ?page=4…).

Why it's a problem

Pagination pages are unstable: their content changes with every new publication. A page accessible only from page 3 of a list will become progressively harder to reach as new content pushes it to page 4, 5…

Consequences:

  • Near-zero PageRank (pagination pages transmit little popularity)
  • Googlebot crawls them rarely (real depth is underestimated)
  • Low or zero organic traffic

How to fix

  1. In the "LIP Pages" tab, identify the affected pages
  2. For each strategic LIP page, add at least one incoming link from a stable page (blog article, category page, homepage)
  3. Use "Related content" blocks or suggested article modules at the bottom of pages
