The Content Decay problem

Content Decay is the phenomenon where a page gradually loses organic traffic without its content changing. Main cause: competitors publish better content and Google prefers them.

The anti-seasonality method

To avoid confusing a seasonal drop with a real SEO decline, Crawlibri compares:

  • 28 days before the indicated drop date
  • 28 days after the same date
  • Compared to the same period the previous year (Year-over-Year)

A page detected as declining has lost > 25% of YoY traffic.

How to use the tool

  1. Open your site and click "SEO Drop" in the navigation
  2. Enter the approximate start date of the drop
  3. Crawlibri queries GSC and lists affected pages
  4. Each page is ranked by Potential score: combination of traffic drop and QualityRisk

Recovery actions

Pages with a high Potential score are your first priorities:

  • Update content with recent information
  • Improve structure (title, H1, H2, FAQ)
  • Strengthen internal linking toward these pages
  • Address the search intent more completely than competitors
